Oyu Tolgoi donated essential equipment worth MNT1.5 billion to the Forest Agency, a Government Implementing Agency, to enhance the capacity of longstanding tree nurseries.

The donating equipment includes 10 sets of equipment including tractors, furrow plough, rotary tiller, auger, landscaping, agricultural trailer, soil potting machine, and seeder. Today, six sets of 48 pieces of equipment were handed over.

Highlighting some of the equipment, the highly productive Lovol 1054D model tractor, which boasts 105 horsepower, excels in challenging conditions without idling and is exported to Eastern Europe. It will be used for tree nurseries and forestry tasks such as ploughing, processing, sowing, harvesting, and transporting tree seeds and saplings.

The soil potting machine reduces manual labour by more than 90%. It can produce 15-20 pots per minute, mixing sand, bio-compost, and soil evenly.

The plough share 1LY-435 model, 8-blade released in 2023, is an innovative model with its main feature enabling ploughing on both sides. It effectively halves the distance a tractor needs to cover.

The "1 Billion Trees" movement, initiated by the President of Mongolia, is an ambitious goal. Achieving this goal will require significant cooperation to overcome numerous challenges and establish a strong foundation for successful implementation. The equipment donation from Oyu Tolgoi to the Forest Agency, alongside tree nurseries signifies our input, partnership and collaborative effort in making this movement a reality.

In November 2021, Oyu Tolgoi committed to planting "100 million trees" in support of the "One Billion Trees" national movement initiated by the President of Mongolia. In this scope, 63.5 million trees and bushes will be planted while funds equivalent to 40 million trees, based on the “Cost norms for reforestation and forestry activities” standard, will be given. This initiative includes preparing the necessary trained personnel for planting trees, conducting further research and development, improving tools and equipment, and establishing new tree propagation centres.
