NAC Kazatomprom JSC (“Kazatomprom” or “the Company”) has successfully implemented a major investment project on modernization of a refinery in the Turkestan region. Kazatomprom-SaUran LLP, a subsidiary of the national nuclear company, has completed the modernization of the refinery for the production of uranium oxide with a capacity of 1,600 tons per year.

As part of the project, equipment and technology were switched from the extraction refining to peroxide refining, which is easy to use and is more cost-effective. The production capacities will allow producing and extracting uranium of very high quality and purity. The recovery factor as a result of the modernization will increase from 98.2% to 100% for uranium processing, and the level of injury risk in the refining shop of Kazatomprom- SaUran LLP will decrease due to the exclusion of organic chemicals from the process.

During the modernization of the enterprise, our own modern highly efficient technologies and developments were used. The refining shop will provide jobs for over 60 people. I wish the labor collective prosperity, safe working conditions and the fulfillment of all production plans,” Yerzhan Mukanov, Chairman of Kazatomprom Management Board, said.

All modernization work was carried out by service enterprises of Kazatomprom: IHT LLP was the developer of the project, and Mashzavod LLP was the general contractor.
