Battery materials company Talga Group Ltd (“Talga” or “the Company”) (ASX:TLG) is pleased to announce it has received the environmental permit for its commercial battery anode plant (“Refinery”) in Luleå, Sweden.
The positive decision handed down by the Swedish Land and Environment Court (“Court”) yesterday, 21 June 2023, includes a granted execution order which allows the Company to commence Refinery construction groundworks in Q3 2023.

Talga Managing Director, Mark Thompson, commented: “The Court’s decision to
permit Europe’s first commercial natural graphite anode plant is an exciting milestone for both Talga and the green transition. We are thrilled to move to the next stage of project development and to commence groundworks for the construction of the anode plant in Luleå. I am extremely proud of the Talga team in this achievement.”
The decision is subject to a three-week period when appeals can be lodged. The execution order secures the right for the Refinery construction to take place while any appeal process is conducted.
The environmental permit was granted subject to conditions that are consistent with Talga’s Detailed Feasibility Study (ASX:TLG 1 July 2021) and permit application. The environmental permit approval
follows the granting of the building permits by Luleå Municipality, which entered into force on 24 March 2023 after receiving no appeals.
