We are excited to be continuing our partnership with the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

The partnership, which aims to provide ways for BHP and AusIMM to collaborate on professional development opportunities for resources professionals, has been extended until 2025.

AusIMM is a member-based, not-for-profit peak body for people in resources and one of their key activities is developing and delivering internationally renowned technical mining conferences in partnership with resource sector leaders committed to best practice.

AusIMM will leverage our global team of thought leaders to provide world-leading technical expertise and support for the conference program as part of our partnership.

Tim O’Connor, Vice President Centre of Resource Excellence and Legacy Assets said the partnership was important in ensuring we continue to stay at the forefront of the global mining and metallurgical industry.

“Our partnership provides us with an extensive amount of exposure to the resources industry and provides us with opportunities to share important updates from both BHP and the sector to key stakeholders and decision makers that we are proud to work with to continue to develop and drive sustainable and emerging approaches to science, geology, technology and innovation in mining,” Tim said.

In addition, it will enable us to support future mining professionals through AusIMM student memberships – equipping the next generation of resources professionals with the skills and tools needed to be leaders.

AusIMM CEO Stephen Durkin said, “The partnership extension reaffirms our commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for professional development and knowledge sharing, both to AusIMM members and industry professionals all around the world.

“Building strong relationships with globally-renowned partners like BHP helps us to access and share the latest technical advancements and innovations with our global community of professionals. It is these professionals who are shaping the future of our industry, helping us meet growing global demand for the metals and minerals needed for modern, sustainable societies.”
