UNIT4 signs important contract with arvato to supply software for
shared service centre for UK Government institutions.

Sliedrecht, 1st March 2013 – UNIT4 has today signed a contract with arvato UK &
Ireland, the business process outsourcing (BPO) partner, to supply software to
underpin the first Independent Shared Service Centre (ISSC1) on behalf of the UK Government.
Under an agreement also announced today (see for the full press release
http://www.unit4software.co.uk/about/news), the existing Department for Transport (DfT) Shared Service Centre in Swansea, South Wales, has been acquired by arvato, which will subsequently provide back office services to the DfT and its executive agencies. The sevenyear outsourcing contract, which includes an optional three-year extension, is expected to deliver significant savings to the Department over its duration.
arvato will underpin the services offered by ISSC1 with the Agresso Central Government Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Platform provided by its partner, and global business software company, UNIT4. The Agresso platform will be introduced at the ISSC1 to replace the existing SAP platform as part of a phased migration process.
Anwen Robinson, Managing Director of UNIT4 Business Software Ltd, said: “With Agresso’s proven flexibility, arvato will be able to make rapid changes to the solution at a relatively low cost to support the changing business needs of the customer.”
This is the latest in a series of successes announced by UNIT4 in the UK public sector. Its Agresso ERP software is already the number one by market share in local government, higher education and further education sectors in the UK, and in recent years it has made significant headway into larger councils.
The Agresso solution is also used around the world by institutions including the Norwegian and Swedish governments and the State of Saxony in Germany. Its growing success is based on its flexibility and ability to cope with rapid organisational change, its rapid implementation and significantly lower cost of ownership compared with other ERP systems used in the government sector.
