For the June quarter, bone void fill manufacturer IsoTis reported a 43%
leap in revenues—the best among all reporting suppliers of bone void fill
products. The second fastest grower after IsoTis this past quarter was
Orthovita, which reported a 37% rise in sales. Then Regeneration
Technologies with a 32% pop, Exactech with a 12% rise in bone void fill
sales, Osteoch +5% and Wright Medical up 2%. IsoTis’s sales performance was
well above both management’s guidance and street expectations. Sales for
the quarter were $10.8 million. At this pace, IsoTis will likely report
2006 sales of between $40 million-$45 million which would imply a growth
rate of between 25%-30%. Clearly, IsoTis is taking market share.
The company reported a loss for the quarter of $2.2 million from operations
(which was slightly below last year’s levels) and $6.2 million overall due
to about $4 million in currency charges. IsoTis’s cash is $11.5 million.
The company has been burning cash at a $2 million quarterly rate this year.
