Getronics Australia has extended its outsourcing relationship with UNiTAB (a company holding licences to operate totalisator and fixed odds betting on racing and sports events) following UNiTAB’s acquisition of Tabcorp Group’s gaming machine maintenance business in Queensland Australia. The six year contract, with a further five year option, is worth EUR 42 million; this represents EUR 22 million more than the original contract.

Steven Crisp, Getronics Senior Vice President Asia Pacific, said: "This contract with UNiTAB represents a major milestone in the future growth plans for Getronics Australia. It consolidates our position as a major ICT service provider to the Leisure and Entertainment industry along with our other strengths in Bank and Finance and Government. Getronics Australia is one of our major growth engines within the region."

Getronics will provide monitoring systems, technology refresh services, IMAC (Installations, Moves, Adds and Changes) services and onsite maintenance at more than 1,500 UNiTAB sites across Queensland. As a result of the contract expansion, Getronics is increasing the support delivered to include jackpot and loyalty products, as well as WAN products. Getronics’ Queensland operations will also increase following the new deal, with an additional 40 staff being hired as a result.

About UNiTAB

TAB Queensland was established in 1962 and is today a fully privatised company known as UNiTAB Limited with its shares listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Originally, TAB Queensland was established as a government authority to conduct legalised off-course totalisator betting in Queensland. On 15 November 1999 the Queensland government sold its entire interest in TAB Queensland by a public float with ownership passing to individual and institutional investors. On December 2nd 2002, TAB Queensland changed its name to UNiTAB Limited. UNiTAB shares trade on the Australian Stock Exchange under the code "UTB".

UNiTAB and its subsidiaries holds licences in Queensland, Northern Territory and South Australia which authorise it to conduct totalisator sports and race wagering and fixed odds sports betting by the internet and telephone and through our retail network.

UNiTAB commenced gaming machine monitoring operations in 19998 when it became the first production approved licensed monitoring operator in Queensland. Through its gaming division, maxgaming, UNiTAB is the largest monitoring operator in the world with a total of 131,000 machines across N.S.W, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
