Nov. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Japan’s consumer prices fell for a 20th month in October, with declines moderating after the government raised tobacco taxes.
Consumer prices excluding fresh food fell 0.6 percent from a year earlier after dropping 1.1 percent in September, the statistics bureau said today in Tokyo. The government’s Oct. 1 tax increase, which boosted the cost of cigarettes by a third, added 0.28 percentage point to the figure, the bureau said.

The European Medicines Agency’s regulation will clarify how drugmakers can copy and sell so-called monoclonal antibodies after they lose patent protection. Reuters) - A total of 11 bidders, including a group led by Woori Finance Holdings (053000.KS), have expressed interest in up to 57 percent of South Korea's top financial services firm, the government said on Friday.
The government closed the first round of bidding for its 57 percent stake worth about $6 billion, as it seeks to complete the privatization of banks, which received billions of dollars of taxpayers' money following the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s. A spokesman for state-owned Korea Deposit Insurance Corp, the top shareholder of Woori, said 11 bidders have submitted their letters of intent. The official declined to reveal names of individual bidders.

Reuters) - Big may be beautiful but good things may also come in small packages for RealDolmen (REAL.BR) as the acquisitive Belgian company casts around for the deal it needs to fuel its growth strategy. "We have talks with smaller companies, we have also talks with bigger companies," Chief Executive Bruno Segers told Reuters in an interview. Dutch peer Qurius (QRIUS.AS) saw its shares rise by as much as 14 percent on Tuesday after Segers told Reuters in an interview it was one of the companies that he was in talks with over a possible tie-up. With a market capitalization of about 34 million euros ($45.1 million) and a core profit of just over 5 million euros in 2009, Qurius would be a relatively big acquisition for RealDolmen, which had 47 million euros in cash at the end of its first half year. Similarly Ordina (ORDN.AS), the Dutch computer services company that Segers also named, would be quite a mouthful with a market capitalization of just over 160 million euros and a 2009 recurring core profit of over 32 million euros. "They're looking at acquisitions either to complement their portfolio of offerings or to expand or improve their regional reach," said analyst Nico Melsens at KBC Securities.
