BERLIN, GERMANY--(Marketwire - December 06, 2007) - Bombardier Transportation announced today that Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM), operator of suburban trains for the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, has awarded rail services contracts valued at approximately 190 million euros ($276 million US) to consortia in which it is a partner. The contracts involve maintenance and refurbishment services for a total of 264 suburban train coaches (78 trains). Bombardier's share of the contracts is approximately 44 million euros ($64 million US).

The first contract, for maintenance and refurbishment work on 144 Series 2100 coaches (consisting of 48 three- coach trains), will be carried out by Consorcio de Manutencao Ferroviï¿1/2ria (COMAFER), a partnership between Bombardier, Alstom, Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF), MPE, Tejofran and Temoinsa. The second contract, for maintenance and refurbishment work on 120 Series 2000 coaches (consisting of 30 four-coach trains), will be handled by the Cobraman II consortium, a separate partnership between Bombardier, Alstom and CAF.

The COMAFER and Cobraman II consortia have been providing vehicle maintenance and refurbishment services to CPTM since 2002.

"These contracts are good news for the city of Sao Paulo as they will provide improved rail equipment for CPTM and support its efforts to deliver enhanced service to public transit users," said Carlos Levy, President and Chief Country Representative, Bombardier Transportation Brazil. "We are very pleased to be continuing this successful relationship with CPTM and our consortia partners."

Laurent Troger, Vice President, Bombardier Transportation Services in Europe, said: "This order is a fine example of Bombardier's commitment to the customer. With its know-how and advanced capabilities, Bombardier has the ability to maintain rolling stock assets that will last over an extended life time."

Bombardier's share of the work will be carried out at CPTM maintenance facilities in Sao Paulo. Both projects are scheduled to begin before the close of 2007 and continue for approximately four years.
