Sean Hinton Appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of Oyu Tolgoi LLC

[Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia]: Oyu Tolgoi LLC has today announced the appointment of Sean Hinton as Chair of the Board of Directors effective 1 October 2024. He replaces Ambassador Batsukh Galsan who has decided to retire from the role after almost 15 years of exemplary leadership.

Mr Hinton, a dual British-Australian citizen, has extensive experience living and working in Mongolia and brings a wealth of experience in international business and sustainable investments to the role.

Chairman Batsukh said: “I believe that Oyu Tolgoi is now on an irreversible path to becoming not only a long-term partner in creating prosperity and social wealth for Mongolia as the country’s leading exporter, but also one of the greatest mining businesses in the world. With so much confidence in the future of Oyu Tolgoi, I have decided that the time is right for me to retire as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

“Over its history, Oyu Tolgoi has overcome significant challenges and seen many moments of happy celebration as we reached great achievements and milestones. The credit for these accomplishments goes to all of the Oyu Tolgoi family, and I am deeply indebted to each and every one of my colleagues.”
