August 1, 2014 - AMSTERDAM - The Air Force Civil Engineer Center selected ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the leading natural and built asset design and consultancy firm, to conduct environmental restoration at 107 sites on the 150 square-mile Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The 10-year, $125 million performance-based firm-fixed price contract, of which $27 million has been authorized to date, will save taxpayer dollars as ARCADIS works with the Air Force to return impacted areas to beneficial use, improve the quality of drinking water and restore balance to local ecosystems.

By using proven cleanup technologies such as in-situ remediation and directed groundwater recirculation, ARCADIS will clean up 14 groundwater plumes, 31 soil contaminated sites, 58 petroleum-impacted sites and four landfills, achieving closure at 92 percent of the sites and optimizing remediation at the remainder.

"The Vandenberg community will benefit from ARCADIS' innovative remedial technologies to efficiently clean up impacted areas," said Gary Coates, CEO for ARCADIS US activities.
