APRIL 3, 2014 -- ARCADIS (Euronext: ARCAD), the leading global natural and built asset design and consultancy firm, today announced that Mr. Niek Hoek will succeed Mr. Rijnhard van Tets as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ARCADIS. Mr. Hoek has been a member of the Supervisory Board of ARCADIS since 2013. He will assume his new role after stepping down as the CEO of Delta Lloyd NV, as announced by Delta Lloyd yesterday. More precisely he will start as soon as his successor at Delta Lloyd has been selected and worked in, but at the latest in May 2015. Because Mr. Van Tets will step down as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the end of his third and final term in May 2014, Mr Maarten Schönfeld has graciously accepted to act as Interim Chairman for the period in between Mr. van Tets' departure and the stepping up of Mr. Hoek. Mr. Schönfeld has been a member of the Supervisory Board of ARCADIS since 2008 and is the Chair of the Audit Committee.

Mr. Van Tets has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ARCADIS for a period of 10 years, and a member of its Supervisory Board for 12 years. During the period of Mr. van Tets' Chairmanship ARCADIS has gone through a remarkable development: net revenues more than tripled, operating margin went up by more than 50%, EPS from operations almost quadrupled and the number of employees more than doubled to well over 21,000 today.

Mr. Niek Hoek (1956) has been Chairman of the Executive Board of Delta Lloyd NV since 2001 and a member of its Executive Board since 1997. Delta Lloyd is a Dutch-based company that offers a broad variety of financial products and services including insurance, asset management and banking. Prior to joining Delta Lloyd, Mr. Hoek worked 17 years for Royal Dutch Shell in the Netherlands, UK, Malaysia and Uruguay. Mr. Hoek was CEO of Shell Uruguay and Chief Investment Officer of the Shell Pension Fund in The Netherlands. He has extensive financial markets and investment expertise and broad international management experience.
Mr. Schönfeld was CFO and Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Stork NV from 2001 through 2008. Before that, he worked in (financial) management positions throughout the world for Royal Dutch Shell. He has a broad knowledge and experience in international business.
