ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the leading pure play global engineering and consultancy firm, was selected by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to provide Construction Management Support Services (CMSS) for the Regional Connector Transit Corridor Project. Under the eight-year contract, ARCADIS will assist Metro with the construction management of the $1.3 billion design-build tunneling project connecting the Gold, Blue and Expo Lines of Metro's light rail transit system.
The Regional Connector will close the gap in the light rail system, eliminating transfers and allowing for fast and efficient continuous service between existing Metro lines connecting communities such as Pasadena to Long Beach and East Los Angeles to Santa Monica.
"ARCADIS is proud to work with Metro to develop innovative solutions for meeting the demands of the growing and increasingly mobile communities it serves," said Steve Blake, CEO for ARCADIS U.S. "Adding to the complexity of the project is the need to tunnel under one of the most densely populated cities in the country. ARCADIS thrives on challenging projects like these where we can showcase our engineering expertise while balancing the needs of growing communities with minimal impacts to the environment."
ARCADIS will provide constructability and site logistics analysis, contract administration, project controls, cost and schedule control, resident engineering, inspection services and comprehensive technical support during design, construction, operations, and final stages of the project.
