Proventec plc (AIM:PROV, Alternext:ALPTC), a provider of specialist steam cleaning and coatings technologies, is pleased to announce that the Company's subsidiary, Magma Industries B.V. ("Magma"), has signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the distribution of fire retardant products for pressure treatment of timber with Dr. Wolman GmbH ("Wolman"), a leading supplier of wood preservatives and fire protection products. Wolman is a 100% subsidiary of BASF, the world's leading chemical company.

Based in Sinzheim, Germany, Wolman has been a supplier to the timber industry for almost 100 years. Under this agreement Magma's product will be distributed throughout Europe (except the Benelux which will be directly supplied by Magma). Wolman has a strong specialist sales team and has established relationships with most of the timber treatment plants in Europe.

The Magma Firestop pressure treatment product for timber has been extensively tested on the most popular wood species according to the new European building legislation EN 13501-1.

Commenting on the agreement David Chestnutt, Chief Executive Officer of Proventec, said: "We are delighted to be entering this partnership, Wolman's reputation and extensive sales network in the timber treatment industry will dramatically expand the awareness and use of Magma's fire retardant products."

In addition Magma's Business Development Director, Michel Bol has been appointed to the Board of Fireretard.com, the European industry association for Fire Retardant wood based materials. The association joins research organisations, manufacturers of wood based materials and fire retardant chemicals from eleven European member states and aims to promote and develop the market of fire retardant wood.
