20/6/05 Harcourt Assessment has announced that it has been certified by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training to award continuing education units to teachers who successfully complete the company’s professional development courses.

SAN ANTONIO – Leading test publisher Harcourt Assessment, Inc., today announced that it has been certified by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to award continuing education units (CEUs) to teachers who successfully complete the company’s professional development courses.

The CEU is an internationally recognized credential that indicates an individual has completed one or more significant non-credit educational experiences. IACET is well-known for upholding high standards for excellence in continuing education and most organizations accept CEUs as evidence of professional achievement.

Harcourt has a growing portfolio of professional development classes that are designed to help teachers understand and interpret test results data, and show teachers how to integrate that knowledge into the classroom with winning teaching strategies that help students achieve.

Among the professional development courses Harcourt offers are: Using Test Results to Guide Instruction, Understanding Your Standards Based Assessment, and Online Testing and Data Analysis.

“Great teachers have a constant need and desire to learn so they can become even better teachers, and we are pleased to offer a variety of professional development courses as a service to educators,” said Robin Gunn, senior vice president for custom assessment programs. “The CEUs earned for successfully completing our courses will provide strong evidence of a teacher’s commitment to the children who will ultimately benefit from these continuing education programs.”

Harcourt applied for IACET certification earlier this year and earned it after an extensive qualification process that included program reviews and a site visit.
“We invested extensive time and effort into earning this certification, but it was certainly worth it because we can now offer our customers even greater value,” Gunn noted.
