BHP would like to congratulate Dr Isabel Hanson on being selected as the BHP John Monash Scholar for 2022.

The General Sir John Monash Foundation announced the 18 recipients of its 2022 scholarships, Australia’s most prestigious postgraduate overseas study program.

Dr Hanson is an award-winning General Practitioner and academic with a passion for community health, policy implementation, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

For over a decade Isabel has accompanied the Aboriginal community of inner city Sydney through her community work with Life for Koori Kids, a charity working to support and create opportunities for Aboriginal children and families.

She is now seeking to pursue further postgraduate study at the University of Oxford in the field of translational health sciences, where she plans to gain knowledge and skills in implementation of best-practice medical care into health policy from a world-leading Department of Primary Care.

Her overall career goal is to return to Australia and work at the interface between primary care, academia and public policy, advocating for a fair and equitable health system for all Australians.

Congratulations Dr Hanson!

BHP has been proud to partner with the Sir John Monash Foundation since 2012
